Our beautiful daughter is growing up! Ava Marian just reached the 8 month mark. Thankfully, we don't have a doctor baby well check again until 9 months. Ava Marian is just ducky! She is talking a lot, playful as ever, LOVES her Daddy, and is almost crawling - whew! She can scoot wherever she needs to go, and even pull up onto her knees when holding onto something! It's all happening so fast, and we are just so thrilled to watch everything unfold.
Her personality sweetly surprises us more and more each day. She is sweet, caring, headstrong, funny (she already has a wicked sense of humor!), social, independant, cuddly, serious, and sensible. She is also a problem solver, and although she'll get frustrated at times, she always seems to regain focus and work through her little problem or road bump. It is challenging for J and I, not to run right to her rescue - but it's much more gratifying in the long run for us to stay near, but let her 'deal' with the situation herself. Nothing replaces the feeling we get when we see the look on her face right after she realizes she did it by herself!! She now has more confidence and knows we are there when she needs us, but that we aren't going to do every little thing for her & we expect her to solve her small problems when she can. It has been amazing, that our 8 month old has already responded to this, small as it may be. We think it is a good start and feel there is a foundation to build on; based on respect, love, and support... not over-parenting! OK, I'll stop! We are just so proud of little Ava!
In other Ava news, she has 'sprout' two little front teeth in the middle on the bottom, and is full on teething now. She has had some fussy spells where we can tell she is uncomfortable, but with cold chewies, half frozen wet wash cloths, carrot sticks in a safety net, her vibrating chewy toy (!), and teething tablets when needed, she has been OK and still sleeping through the night. Sometimes she likes it when I gently use my finger to rub her gums. She is eating bigger bottles now and even little finger food 'puffs'! She eats fruit with yogurt or oatmeal in the morning, and veggies/puffs for lunch. Her favorites seem to be bananas, sweet potato, apples, and avocado. She loves precticing with the spoon and sippy cup, too. Soon she will start eating more dairy, like cottage cheese and shredded cheddar. We haven't introduced a whole lot of meats yet either, which we will start doing soon.
Well, I've taken a picture of Ava Marian each month on the 24th, except for this one! We left our camera at Gloria's house after the BBQ...so these are just a few days late! Enjoy :)
Cutietee pootie!! Love her!
