Happy Easter! The morning started off rough, since we had gone to bed so late! Ava thankfully slept in until 6:45, however she was soaked through her onesie under her jammies, so I decided to give her a shower and take one myself to wake up!! Daddy helped get her all ready while I got ready for the day. None of the kids were up yet, so Ava and I snuck into wake up Auntie Shaunna, and we all headed outside to hide all the plastic eggs! We are talking about a big yard, with VERY long grass we haven't mowed in a while...heehee - it was perfect! we were just chucking them out there, and hiding them all around the stumps and in the trees, under the BBQ, you name it! Of course the older kids understand it's us parents, but Isaias and Marianna are convinced a bunny was here!
Once everyone was awake, we 'discovered' the bunny cake was missing a piece??!! The Easter bunny had eaten some cake we left him!! Everyone was thrilled with their baskets, and the kids ate breakfast while we waited for Grandma to come over and help hunt eggs! The sun came out and it ended up being a soggy, but beautiful & brisk morning. Time for the hunt!
Marianna started first, then 30 seconds later, Isi made a mad dash, then after him, Calvin and Tyler took off! Eggs were flying! About 20-30 minutes later, we counted up our eggs and there were still 4 more out there...which everyone pitched in to help find! We had a great time, and Bumpa even helped Ava find her first eggs, one was in the cherry tree! I don't know about anyone else, but I think we've got ourselves a new tradition - Easter sleepover at the Largent's!
We had all worked up a big appetite, and Gloria had a ham in the oven at home! All the ladies (and Miguel) pitched in to peel eggs to make them deviled, and we also got our veggie casserole dish in the oven. At about Noon, we all high-tailed over to Gloria's with our side dishes, etc., for Easter lunch! Yummy! Ava even tried Salmon and LOVED it, much to me and J's delight! All in all, the weekend was busy & sometimes hectic, but completely wonderful! We had so much fun with our family, and can't wait until next Year when Ava goes running through the yard to find her own eggs!
